Derrick was born in Atwater and raised in Merced. He received his undergraduate degree from Utah Valley University in Emergency Services Management. Derrick worked as a paramedic for Riggs Ambulance for nearly 12 years, leaving to further his education. Derrick graduated from the Stanford University Physician Assistant Program with a Masters degree in Medical Science (MMS). He has experience with family practice, emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics and trauma injuries. Derrick loves spending time with his family and is an avid football fan (Stanford, of course!)
